I removed a 1991 Carrier Gas Furnace and Air Conditioner. I installed a Carrier 80% 45,000 BTU Gas Furnace and Carrier 13 Seer 2 Ton Air Conditioner. Cycled and monitored the system. Operating normally at this time. Included with the installation is a free 1 year service maintenance agreement.
I completed the service maintenance agreement tune up on a 2020 Carrier 96% 2 stage 60,000 BTU Gas Furnace. I visually inspected the furnace. Checked voltages, amps and temperature rise. Inspected heat pump. Checked voltages and amps. Cycled and monitored both systems. I replaced the filter and cleaned the flame sensor. Operating normally at this time.
Upon inspection, I found the overheating issue was being caused by the furnace being oversized for the home. I informed the customer and they are not interested in replacing system at this time, will call us if they change their mind. System is operational upon departure.
Upon arrival for callback on 2017 Lennox furnace, found 3amp fuse blown on air handler. Replaced 3amp fuse with a 5amp fuse and cycled system on, made sure all low voltages were energized. System continued to operate as intended for about 30 minutes without any issues. Tested contactor, the contactor was also good. Recommended to customer to run new low voltage wire from stat to indoor and also from indoor to outdoor unit. Customer isn’t interested at this time, and will get back with us if so. System operational at departure.
Upon arrival for tune up safety check on 2008 Ruud furnace, immediately noticed that inducer motor and blower motor both out of spec due to very high amp draws from both components. Also seeing that spark igniter along with flame sensor were both going bad and furnace heat exchangers had very large hotspots and what looked almost seem like small very small cracks. Could explain why I got high levels C0 PPMs in flu pipe. Quoted customer on repair also talk to customer about replacement options. Customer would like time to talk about it and think about it with significant other. Will check in on customer in the next few days. Furnace was operating and blowing hot air upon departure.
Upon arrival for service call on 1995 furnace, furnace was off at breaker panel and t-stat. Turned on breaker and stat to heat, blower motor immediately kicked on and stays on. Checked low voltage at circuit board, transformer is sending 27.9v into board, and there is no low voltage at either R/W/G or Y terminal on board, and there is also burn marks on circuit board itself. Circuit board has failed and needs to be replaced, after board is replaced and we have low voltage then we can further diagnose system to make sure all other items are in working condition. I do recommend furnace replacement due to age and cost of repairs. Customer decided to do a full system replacement and it is all set up for a new system installation. Furnace not operational at departure.
