I completed scheduled maintenance spring tune up on a Ruud air conditioner. I visually inspected the furnace. Checked voltage and amps. I inspected the evaporator coil. I checked the temperature difference across the coil. Checked refrigerant charge, voltages and amps. I rinsed the condenser coils with water. Cycled and monitored the system. Operating normally at this time.
I completed a diagnostic on a Carrier 80% 70,000 BTU Gas Furnace. I determined that air filter was extremely clogged and flame sensor needed cleaned. I cleaned the flame sensor and advised the customer replace the air filter. System was operational at time of departure.
I completed a diagnostic on a 1999 Trane Gas Furnace. Determined that air filter was clogged and flame sensor has been replaced(not by us) but is not an OEM sensor and is retrofitted. Replaced the air filter and quoted a price to replace flame sensor. System is operational at time of departure.
Upon arrival for service call on 1998 Trane furnace, found blower motor locking up on startup, was pulling 15 amps was able to spin it and get it going. Was running at 7 amps while running. Customer stated unit was squealing last night indicating most likely cause of failure was due to bearing going bad. Customer would like to replace motor. Unit not functioning properly upon departure as we will have to return with new motor to make necessary repairs.
